Who We Are

BrazilGrid is a research and intelligence platform focused on the power sector. Founded by Breno Loureiro, director of Brik Engenharia with ~20 years of experience in the wind and solar sector, having certified over 10 GW of renewable projects in Brazil.

The platform was born from a realization: power sector data in Brazil is public, but nobody analyzes it with the necessary granularity. ONS publishes half-hourly data per plant. CCEE publishes hourly prices per submarket. ANEEL publishes generation and permit records. By cross-referencing these sources with analytical rigor, we uncover patterns that aggregated reports hide.

Methodology

Every BrazilGrid analysis follows a hypothesis protocol:

  1. Formulate explicit hypothesis (H##) with testable claim
  2. Query granular data in ClickHouse (186 tables, 648M+ records)
  3. Quantitative validation: correlation, statistical significance, temporal decomposition
  4. Cross-validation: multiple subsystems, months and sources
  5. Document result with status (Confirmed / Partial / Refuted / Inverted)
  6. Publish article with finding + practical implication

Data Sources

  • ONS — Public S3 data: half-hourly curtailment per plant, CMO, interchange, scheduling/forecast, capacity factor, thermal generation
  • CCEE — Hourly PLD per submarket
  • ANEEL — SIGA (permitted/under-construction capacity), RALIE, SAMP (distributed generation), meeting minutes
  • SINtegre — DESSEM decks, NEWAVE definitions, DECOMP results, wind forecast, PV functions
  • Receita Federal — Corporate data (CNPJ, shareholders) for ownership mapping

Tech Stack

  • OLAP — ClickHouse Docker (production EC2 + local development)
  • Graph — Neo4j Enterprise (SIN topology: 7,100+ nodes, 12,900+ relationships)
  • Language — Python 3.11+ with Polars, Plotly, Streamlit
  • ML — XGBoost, LightGBM (surrogates and D+1 predictors)
  • API — FastAPI (Oracle API, 15 endpoints, SHA-256 per response)
  • Integrity — Merkle Tree SHA-256, verifiable certificates per plant
